Pinon Road Bridge Replacement

Project consisted of providing construction-surveying support to SEMA Construction for the re-construction of the Pinon Road Bridge in Pueblo County. The project took 1 year to complete. Up to two-experienced survey crews plus survey managers and CADD support are providing technical support for bridge replacement construction survey layout, GPS layout, and CADD operations. Surveying was provided to support re-construction of the existing bridge and roadway. Survey items included: 10th points for bridge girder placement, bridge abutments and pillars, guardrail, signage, and various drainage structures such as pipes and sediment or detention ponds. These surveying services required a high degree of accuracy, competence and experience in all aspects of construction surveying and GPS surveying techniques. 10th point layout required to utilize safety harnesses for fall protection as well as hard hats and eye safety wear.

Employees are required to use any project required safety equipment, as well as learn any project specific safety procedures. Since the project is a Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) and Pueblo County Public Works project, the surveying work adheres to state and federal tolerances for construction surveying. CDOT engineers do periodic checks of work provided, and required to submit field notes pertaining to anything surveyed at the end of the project. This type of job requires maintaining a working relationship with SEMA Construction as well as CDOT representatives.
