Contract consisted of a Study and Programming Phase, which included verifying all existing building floor plans, contacting key personnel in the Engineering Department for possible student involvement with various phases of the project, and providing a complete Survey of all campus structures and interior areas for ADA code compliance. These included Door Hardware and Clearances, Handrails, Drinking Fountains, Restrooms, Locker Rooms, Signage, Furnishings and Equipment Compliance, Library Stack and Support Area, and Miscellaneous Features. Exterior items included Sidewalks, Parking lots, Outdoor Recreation Areas, Public Service Areas, Signage, and Miscellaneous Features. In addition, Regional Community Colleges and Local School Districts were contacted for possible new ADA issues/concerns that USC is not presently aware of and solutions were provided to incorporate for this project. Coordination with the USC ADA Committee and Student Advocacy Group was provided throughout the project. The Schematic Design (Report) portion included providing design solutions from the Study and Programming Phase as well as for installing an ADA Lift in the Life Sciences Building; providing an exterior bench specification for use on this project. The purpose of the Design Development Phase was to provide recommendations to USC for the Construction or Renovating of the project. During this phase, surrounding infrastructure was investigated to ensure there were no conflicts during construction.
The Construction Document Phase involved providing a complete set of Construction Drawings and Specifications that had been reviewed and approved by the State Buildings Programs and the office of the State Planning and Budget. The goal of the Bidding Phase was to coordinate all efforts in order to obtain competitive bids from qualified Contractors. During the Construction Contract Administration Phase coordination between USC and the Contractor was provided to assure a quality project with the least amount of conflicts allowing the day-to-day operations of the campus to continue. In addition, this final phase included providing Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC), processing Contractor’s pay requests and change orders, and Finalizing the Project. |
